Fluid Control holds First of Its Kind Chiksan Course in the Region
On Wednesday, Sept 26 2012, Fluid Control introduced the first Chiksan course in Norway at our brand new training facilities in Sola to address the demand for trained flowline mechanics and operators in the Norwegian offshore energy industry.
This ConocoPhillips approved Chiksan course is structured to introduce the essential safety elements of handling high pressure flowline equipment in the offshore oil & gas industry - giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and various controls that may be encountered by personnel offshore.
While buildup in a flowline can cause transmittal slows or even plugging of the flowline, cracks or flaws in the line can be disastrous. A form of flow assurance for oil and gas flowlines, ensures the line is running smoothly. It’s therefore vital that workers are trained on the technical requirements for operation of these equipement. Our experienced instructor, Arve Håland ensured that the ConocoPhillips trainees received personal attention and any areas of concern were addressed during their training.
The course focused primarily on
· Product description
· Control and operating elements of low and high pressure flowline equipment
· Safety functions and protection
· Operating problems
· Maintenance and inspection schedules
· Assembly of equipment by customer staff
· Efficient operation
· Safety guidelines and Hazards
The course gave trainees the reassurance and increased confidence when involved in any potential emergency situation when handling flowline and once completed, all students received a certificate of completion.
The market for flowline equipment in the Norwegian continental shelf region is now more competitive than ever. Here at Fluid Control we are keen to offer our customers a better learning experience as well as best value for money.
